Robert Dunn, Humpty's Family Restaurant
Hello, I'm Robert Dunn, owner of Humpty's Family
Restaurant in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. I'm a firm believer
that working hard can get you places. It first started in December
of 1999 when I was asked to come from Salmon Arm. B.C. to help
run the kitchen because it was so busy.
It was then I was asked if I was interested
in ever owning the location. With having very little money to
put down I knew it would be a challenge. In November of 2005 Community
Futures Prince Albert and District gave me an opportunity to buy
into the company which gave me the first start. With a lot of
blood, sweat and tears I've worked hard doing what I had to do
paying down my loan.
Once I started to prove myself it got easier
to refinance and in October 2007 I was the sole owner of the restaurant.
My first year in business was the most challenging, I increased
sales and dealing with the lack of staff shortages which had its
own headaches. I also received the Directors Choice award for
Youth Financial Management from Community Futures 2008. It was
a great honour in receiving this award, showing that the hard
work I put in was noticed. So far I'm first in line for Franchisee
of the year 2008.
My hard work will continue since I'm now looking
at renovations of the restaurant in February 2009. The restaurant
is going to look awesome, more upscale looking, come check us
out.
